Atomic Swing Live at Malmöfestivalen 2006 Mini-Review

Last friday, the one and only band – reunited after a 10 year hiatus – Atomic Swing played live at Malmöfestivalen in Sweden. Malmöfestivalen is an annual event where bands from Sweden (and elsewhere in the world) come to play for free. Let me say right away that this was an excellent concert. No, it was better than excellent, it was quite possibly the best concert I’ve ever been to. Then again, I am a fan.

The band was talkative, excited, played their songs extremely well and played one hit after the other. This is the tracklist, off the top of my head:

  • The Flasher
  • Panicburgh City
  • Like A John Needs A Yoko
  • Pilgrim
  • Venus addiction
  • In The Dust
  • So Mystifying
  • Love Thing
  • Stone Me Into The Groove
  • Smile

Highlights of the evening included The Flasher, Panicburgh City, Like A John Needs A Yoko and Smile, the latter which extended into a well done introduction of the bandmembers. Venus Addiction suffered heavily from a strange rumble which I suppose came from the keyboard. Unfortunate because it’s a great song.

If you missed this concert, wherever you are in the world, you missed out bigtime.

  1. Michael,

The video is actually an archaic one from their youth. Not a video I took of the concert… I should update the article to match that.
