About "Landscapes"
In this autumnal time of year, I find myself always returning to the same type of imagery. Just like my Autumn installment November last year, "Landscapes" is a mix of various pictures portraying the autumn/winter period of Scandinavia.
Yet, the memory of a place is different in your minds eye from what it'll look like when you return to it one day. Sometimes, your minds eye memory is better, having basked in the warming fire that is a good memory. Sometimes, it's quite the opposite; the real place is not as bad as you remember it to be.
In both cases, the picture in your minds eye is garbled. You'll remember silhuettes, colours, tastes and smells. Like a radio that doesn't quite tune in on the right channel, elements will be taken out of context and put together to form something entirely different.

You’ve made the natural odd and the odd natural at the same time. That’s quite something.
2 and 5.
I think 2 looks the most like it was painted rather than photographed.
Of course now I’ve got the installment open in another tab with the looping sounds in the background and I’m going to have that stuck in my head all night. 🙂

Odd is good. I purposefully tried to create some “ugly” jagged elements in these pictures. I’ve used “sharpen” here and there, where it wasn’t needed, and I’ve left in some cruft. Sometimes it’s good to struggle with some areas of your images.
2 was a lucky shot, (chronologically it was nr. 1) but I personally prefer 3, which I consider to be a “lucky accident”. Even though it’s very confusing, I like the shapes and colors … ahem, if I may be so bold and compliment my own stuff.
My personal favorites are 2 and 5 too, although I can see why you like number 3. I think one of the reasons I don’t like it that much, is that I crave the big landscape vistas, and don’t really care much for the oddness or maybe offness.
Concerning the installments themselves I was a bit saddened to see that you don’t scale them in flash to fit the screen anymore, not all of us have large screens you know.
I must also admit that I turned off the sound as soon as I found out I could.
Interesting installment, coolness once again.

Well, I know what you mean, and I plan to implement this feature in the future. The thing is, it’s no easy task.
Otherwise, I won’t be able to use anchor frames in Flash to provide neat permalinks
Even if the width can easily be set to 100%, the height of an iframe can’t. I have to set the height using javascript, which suddenly makes everything really complex.
It has to be possible, but as we all know time is a barrier. But I am thinking about small screens, you’re not forgotten 🙂
I expect people to do so after having it loop once.
I didn’t add the screechy radio noise to make people comfortable, I added it because I felt it matched the slight oddness of the whole 🙂

Each part of this installment gains something when viewed on a large monitor (just tuned in from work), and although 2 and 5 are still my favorites, I like the rest better now. Truly coolness.

They are from Sweden, particularly the area surrounding a small town called Lagan, which is close to Ljungby.
Edit: Actually most of the photography found on this site, in various modifications, is from there. I’m a huge “Sweden” fan.
Very wonderful colors, and I love the different feelings of naturalness vs. artificialness in each one. I like them all for different reasons, though 2 is my favorite, just like everyone else.
Incidentally, I didn’t have flash 8 installed until just now. Go figure.

And not a moment too soon. Older than Flash 8 Players had security issues apparently.
