Five Things We Hope Barack Obama Has Learned From Conan The Barbarian

Apparently, Barack Obama collects Conan comics. Some danish friends of mine have written an excellent list of five things they hope Barack Obama has learned from Conan. The article in its entirety is in danish, though you can try and have Google translate it for you. Here are the five items, translated for you, dear readers:

  • A simple man from simple upbringings can go a long way
  • Gods are only painted wood
  • Take care of the women
  • There are wizards and wizardry everywhere, but they usually give way to a sharp blade
  • Even if you would like to take care of yourself, you’ll often be involved in other peoples fights

What a great list.

    And, most importantly:

The best way to deal with James Earl Jones when he claims to be your father is to cut his head off and not scream and cry about the whole thing (I’m looking at you, Luke).

I doubt he’ll ever have a chance to use that, but you never know.

      Good one! 10 points 🙂

Actually, the gods in Conan are almost always real. They usually manifest themselves at some point in the story. I have a Conan issue at home where there is a god in it.

In either case Obama is a Christian, but I hope that he doesn’t start wars in God’s name. It makes God and Christians seem evil. Here’s hoping.

I seem to remember that as well, but I know for a fact that this list stems from a couple of experts so I’m counting on most of it being true. It could, for instance, be referring to the other gods than his own god Crom, or it could refer even to Crom in that he can’t even trust him, only his steel sword.

As a Dane, I can vouch for the wisdom of all Danes. I’m also a huge Conan fan — the Robert E. Howard Conan — not the movie Conan. Coincidentally, I just interviewed the media director from the company that owns the rights to Conan. They are gearing up for a new movie in 2010. Can’t wait for that.

But anyone who has not read the original Conan — you can win a free copy of Howard’s tales here:

It’s easy. Go Conan! Go Obama!

    Speaking of Barack Obama:

Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual, and in his heart and mind he inevitably does not endorse hate crimes committed by George W. Bush.

George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

And I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed other hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention.

Many people know what Bush did.

And many people will know what Bush did
