US unregistered voters now only have two days left to register to vote. If you’re one of them, get off your ass and register! According to Google, 10% of nonvoters in 2004 didn’t vote because they didn’t know where to go. What do we do when we can’t find our way? We find a map.

Another reason not to vote I’ve had thrown at me was that registering to vote is essentially registering for jury duty. Well fuck me. So the system sucks, does that surprise you? Do something about it!

Update: Registering to vote does not register you for jury duty.

You’ll be glad to hear I’ve already received my absentee ballot.

I’m glad and proud of you and anyone else like you. In fact, I’d be happy for people voting, even if they vote for the wrong guy.

That’s what I keep telling all of my fellow, idiotic compatriots. You want change? The only way is to participate! Unfortunately, the vast majority of Americans here are either enormously uneducated or criminally apathetic. I’ve seen some incredible statistics about our voters. For instance, 2 out of 5 Americans can’t name our three branches of government. (Are you kidding me? We’ve had that information ingrained in our school learning since the fourth grade!) And then 49% of registered voters think that the President has the power to suspend the U.S. Constitution whenever he wants. (Really?? If that were true, we would have been a police state a long, long time ago!!) Not to mention that roughly two-thirds of Americans (if I remember correctly) can’t even name their Bill of Rights…

Living here is very discouraging sometimes. I would love to move to Europe.

And right now, I would kill to be able to vote… except that my 18th birthday is almost exactly one month after Election Day. I’m furious. I’ve contemplated forging a birth certificate, but…

Ignorance is bliss, don’t forget. It’s my impression that many americans do not believe it’ll make a difference which president they elect. And honestly, against such wooden ideas, it’s hard to do a thing.

Certainly parts of Europe are highly recommendable.

And right now, I would kill to be able to vote

Registering to vote does NOT register you for jury duty – that is a common misconception in the U.S.

Thanks for pointing that out. Corrected.

I can say with 100% certainty that you are wrong. Registering to vote, in some areas, will definitely register you for jury duty.
