I Built It Myself

That there is what you might call a bunk-bed. Except, it’s not intended for sleeping. It’s intended for nothing less than comic consumption. I even threw in an album of “Valerian” by Jean-Claude M?zi?res & Pierre Christin, not only to display my fondness for those particular comics, but also to demonstrate scale and applicability of this particular bunk-bed installation.

So, except for the obvious, what’s so cool about this? Well, I built it, all by myself. Or… well, the framing was there so I just laid down the wooden floor. Still, pretty cool.

Aww, you must be so proud of yourself. 😛

Oh hell yeah. I’ll post more pictures once it’s “stocked” 🙂

That is damned cool. I wouldn’t have any room for it in our apartment, but I could use a “secret” space where I could go and play on my powerbook or read. As it stands, neither our living/dining/reading/working area (our living room) or our bedroom (which I pretty much only use for sleeping) seem to cut it.

On the whole it looks very nice. What are you going to do with matress and pillows? Personally I have to sit up a bit to read, I can’t lie down completely, but I realize other people don’t have this problem.

Exactly why I wanted it. Although, it’s not entirely secret, judging by the location. Even so, the very fat that it’s still physically absent to the more “daily” surroundings make it sort of a refuge. It’s the closest thing I’ll ever get to having my own library in this small apartment.

If I am going to use a mattress, it should be sort of a “garden furniture” mattress — that is, something that’s quick to roll out and is very flexible. I don’t want any permanent mattress, as it’ll generate huge amounts of dust. So I guess I’ll furnish it with pillows and some rugs or something. Maybe even a very small table for the right feng shui. The possibilities are endless 😀

As for sitting up, I generally prefer that too.

Man you’re an even bigger comic book geek than I am. Awesome :), ‘I don’t know what a graphic novel is’ my arse. (for the uninitiated, that’s what Joen said when I asked him what his favourite graphic novel, or BD series was).

  6. Joen says:

Hehe, it’s never too late to jump on the clue train, don’t forget that 🙂

    I am much wiser now.

Be sure to post pictures once you furnish it.

‘I don’t know what a graphic novel is’

If you had asked me 1-2 years ago that would have been my reply too. I mean, I read plenty of comics as a kid (most of the comics were my dad’s and my own collection is meager to say the least), but never got further than Asterix, Lucky Luke, and that sort of thing. Lately, grahic novels such as Usagi Yojimbo has started to peak my interest (I mean, a samurai bunny, how can you not like that), but I don’t have any graphic novels yet.

    Btw. what’s “BD series”?
