Kent to Play New Single at Swedish Grammies

The best band of all time, as you all know—Kent, will perform the first single from their upcoming release, “Du & jag d?den”.

From the official site:

  • The new single, (as yet unknown title), will premier at the Grammy gala show the 7th of February.
  • The new record “Du & jag d?den” (You & me death), will be released the 15th of March.
This follows the same (very successful) recipe they used for their last release “Vapen & Ammunition” (Guns & Ammunition). The first single from that album was also unveiled at the Swedish grammies.

I for one, hope to record it and transform it into an mp3, so stay tuned for more Kent madness. Huge thanks to my sister for SMS‘ing this to me!

Update: Some new news snippets have surfaced from the official site.

  • The new single is entitled “Max 500”.
  • It’ll be for digital sale the 7th of February and store sale the 9th.
  • The single will contain two B-side tracks, entitled “M” och “V?lg?rningar & Illd?d” [~ Good deeds & Bad deeds].
  • Kent says from the studio: “We’ve never been better!”
    This’ll be awesome.

Hmm… Kent. So, this is a popular group I take it?

Fairly, atleast in Scandinavia. They tried for a commercial breakthrough in the US with english language versions of their Isola and Hagnesta Hill records. They didn’t quite catch a break, but that’s okay—it’s widely acknowledged their lyrics work better in Swedish anyway.

Is the single/album going to have an English version too?

I can’t tell you for sure just yet. They used to make english versions of their albums (with Isola and Hagnesta Hill), but unfortunately my bet is that they won’t release this album in English.

Years ago, they were planning to make Vapen & Ammunition in english, but they scrapped it in the last minute. I don’t think there were ever plans to release their later album, Du & Jag D?den in english, sorry.
