Howl's Moving Castle

Ever since I saw Spirited Away, I’ve been a fan of master animator Hayao Miyazaki’s work.

As such, it is no surprise that I’m very much looking forward to seeing his next feature, entitled “Howl’s Moving Castle“. Even more so after seeing these fantastic pictures.

A trailer of sorts, is also available.

I hope to go to the Miyazaki / Moebius exposition in Paris come this December or early next year. Will I meet you there?

  1. I agree! This was one of the best movies of the summer, bar none. I put a review up on my blog, along with some other summer movies if you’re interested

We recently watched Spirited Away, or rather Chihiro og heksene, as I had found a cheap dvd. Unfortunately, it was only with japanese or danish speech and danish subtitles. A bit annoying. However, not as much as the extras, finnish language commentary to the storyboard!

On the subject of Hayao Miyazaki, I bought Nausic?a in Canada, rather good. A bit na?ve in the animation and story, but good all the same. I read (somewhere, my memory is too lousy) about a Miyazaki box set or something Princess Monoko special edition. Can’t wait.

I have yet to watch Nausicaa and Mononoke, but I thoroughly enjoyed Spirited Away.

Not unlikely. The fact is that there are no _official_ box sets, and since Disney purchased the rights, it’s going to be a while before we see one.

That said, there are several “unofficial” box sets out there, that is, homebrew releases with custom written subtitles, etc. My good friend at work has such a box, and it’s actually _much better_ than you’d think. Furthermore, the price he paid was very low, so it’s most likely not a waste of time, even if a future superior box set comes out. I’ll post here if I dig it up.
