  1. AFAIK it’s not anything tangible as such, mostly a ‘project’. There’s obviously a book out, so it’s a book… But Chiang has also signed a deal with Sony about making a game, so that’ll in all likelihood see the light of day at some point.

As for the trailers, I think they, so far, are proof of concepts of a sort. A way for them to see whether or not it is a feasible idea to make an animated movie (or series) and also to gauge audience opinion before anything of that magnitude is decided.

    But that’s merely AFAIK.

Hi Michael, you’re a friend of Brians, are you not? Welcome & hello, I work at Titoonic where Brian was ‘til he left for IO.

Thanks for clearing up all the details on Doug Chiang and his projects. Specifically this Robota has intrigued me ever since I saw the trailer first time some 3 months ago.

Having not seen or heard anything from the Chiang camp for so long now, I was beginning to suspect that it was no ordinary project. In my na?vete, I just always expect quicktime.com installments to appear as movies eventually.

I still hope Robota will. Become a movie, that is…

  3. Yeah, I work at IO as well 🙂

It would be cool to see what Robota ends up becoming. Personally I’m still hoping I can convince myself that I should pay up for the book on Amazon 🙂

You mean the one with the latin choir singing? I have no idea, but I have heard it used a couple of times before…
